Papendrecht, 30th July 2019 – Topec has been awarded the contract for the delivery of an essential 2,600 kWe diesel generator set from the company TechnipFMC. Technip is the EPC contractor who is taking care of this assignment for the end customer, an Israeli oil & gas operator, Energean. The generator set is used to start up an FPSO’s primary processes.
Energean operates in a deep-water, Mediterranean Sea gas extraction field, located approximately 75 kilometres off the coast of Israel. An FPSO is used, in which the gas condensate is processed, stored and transported.
The set is supplied as a single lift tailor-made container, designed and built as per client specifications and the DNV-GL regulations. Fire resistance for a period of 1 hour (A60) is also included. The generator set comprises a Caterpillar C175-16 engine, hydraulic and electric starting systems, a water mist fire protection system, a fuel day tank, a cooling system and a control panel.
Nico van den Biggelaar, Sales Manager Projects at Topec explains: “The FPSO construction is at an advanced stage. Part of the reason why we were chosen was because of how quickly we can deliver. To guarantee the timely delivery of the complete FPSO, TechnipFMC has asked Topec to deliver the generator set within 10 months. We are delivering the set to them no later than 15 April 2020. Our generator set will be the last item to be hoisted on board. A hard deadline therefore. We greatly appreciate Technip’s confidence.”
The FPSO is being built in Singapore before being shipped to Israel. The delivery for the entire FPSO is planned for July 2020.
